Wazzup Xclusive | R&B Superstar Chantaul Talks New Single “Tonight”, Artistry, and Future | @chantaulmusic

Ladies and Gentlemen, Meet Alisha Chantal Williams, professionally known by her stage name “Chantaul”.  Chantaul first caught the eye of Wazzuptonight in 2012, fresh off of her performance on B.E.T. ‘s Blaze the Stage Competition which propelled her to stardom. Born in Augsburg, Germany, Chantaul moved to the United States at the age of six where she was brought up in a home full of gospel and soul.  From the sounds of the Clark Sisters and the Commission, to the sultry R&B from the likes of 90’s greats Jodeci, Michael Jackson and Prince, Chantaul was well on her way to being molded into a musical impresario, ready to explode.

Raised in Charlotte, N.C., Chantaul entered into the B.E.T. ‘s Blaze the Stage as one of more than 100 contestants and was chosen unanimously. A star was born! From there, Chantaul recorded her first single “Dreaming”. Chantaul stock was on the rise with appearances on B.E.T. ‘s Wild Out Wednesday and Music Matters.

Chantaul has opened for Raheem Devaughn, Big K.R.I.T., Lyfe Jennings, Fantasia, Angie Stone and the legendary Frankie Beverly & Maze.  Eventually Chantaul  was afforded the opportunity to audition for “The Four”. Chantaul would audition twice, the first time she was flown out to Hollywood to audition in front of Lorraine Gibson. The second time, was back home in Charlotte, NC where she auditioned at Peter Thomas former club “Club One” for the second season. The opportunity came from Chantaul’s Instagram audition which caught the eye of @iamkenpen @wescasting and @onealmcknight. After auditioning for O’Neal and Andre Harell, Chantaul wouldn’t make the cut; however, the opportunity led to working with O’Neal McKnight.

As fate would have it, between 2020-2022 Chantaul received 4 major placements for her previous record “Dreaming” with United Masters for ESPN, 2K21, Northface and At&t. In addition, Chantaul’s single “Real One” scored a placement for OTE (Overtime Elite League). To date, her latest singles, “Dreaming”, “Real One”, “Live More”, and “Tonight” have been added to United Masters sync library. Talking about God Walking it Out!

Today, Chantaul continues to inspire the world through her music, and she is showing no signs of slowing down.  As the current single, “Tonight” makes its way to the top of streaming platforms, Chantaul knows that she hasn’t reach the plateau of where her career will take her.

Exclusive Interview w/ Chantaul

WazzupTonight: Chantaul, where is Home?

Chantaul: I am originally from Augsburg, Germany, but was raised in Charlotte, NC. Currently my home is Atlanta, Ga.

WazzupTonight: Please explain the unique concept of your stage name?

Chantaul: Lol funny story so my full name is “Alisha Chantal Williams”. My mother got my name from a German movie. I added the “U” in “Chantal” because in Germany you pronounce it as if it’s a “U” in it. “Chantaul” is my alter ego! She’s confident; takes her shoes off on stage, and that’s actually her thing, she walks through the crowd with no nervousness in the world. Yet she’s humble but knows she’s about to tear the stage down with her vocals!

WazzupTonight: Tell us about your musical background, beginning to present?

ChantauI:  grew up listening to R&B greats like Prince, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, El Debarge and even gospel greats like Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams, Commission and the Clark Sisters. I was breaded into music at a very young age. My grandmother was a choir director /organist at age 7, she put me in the choir. My Grandmother Lucy was the one who taught me how to sing; as well as my aunt Virginia Rush, whom back in the days’ was signed to Devonte Swing – Missy Elliot and Timberland was signed to him at the time. She was with “The basement” which had sister, and several other stars you’ve seen over the years. When my aunts and uncles were young kids they created a gospel group with K-ci and Jojo around the ages of 9. My dad and uncles had a group named “Nusol” and when I say they have vocals on them, lord it. Music was here in my family before i was even brought into it. Moving forward I have worked hard over the years, I’ve worked with many amazing people along the way and bad ones too. But, that’s life. Currently, I have a great relationship with United Masters. In 2020, I began longing for a team. I had never been in front of a label; however,  I was longing for a major opportunity with someone that would place me in a situation to win. I found out about a contest, and entered my Record “Dreaming” which was nearly10 years old,  and to my surprise, they accepted it. I was beyond shocked. Since, I’ve received many placements with companies such as Nba, Espn, At&t, Northface Clothing, OTE. They have become some of my biggest fans of my music. In a world were real singers aren’t recognized, it feels good for major corporations such as United Masters to recognize my talent.

WazzupTonight: Please tell us about your recent project(s) (albums,ep) dates and singles released?

Chantaul: I have recently released 3 singles Tonight, Live More and Real One all which have been accepted into United Masters Sync Library.

WazzupTonight: Who has been the biggest influence on your career?

Chantaul: My Grandmother, Lucy.

WazzupTonight: What makes your style “Swag” different from others?

Chantaul: My adlibs and how I deliver on a track. I feel when you hear my voice on a  track you know it’s Chantaul.

WazzupTonight: Who have you worked with? Who would you like to work with in the future?

Chantaul: I have been blessed to open up for Nipsey Hussle, Fantasia, Luke James, Frankie Beverly and maze, Tank and more. As far as a song I have never worked with a major artist on a record. I would love to work with Baby face, Paul Epworth, Quincy Jones, Toni Braxton,  Brandy, Beyonce, Kanye west , Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys, H.E.R, Lil kim and Cardi B.

WazzupTonight: What’s been your most pivotal moment? (the turning point in your career)

Chantaul: 2020 the pandemic. I was pregnant when I entered my record “Dreaming” to get licensed with United Masters for possible placements.

WazzupTonight: Excluding your musical talents, is there any other aspect of your career, or life you would like to share?

Chantaul: I own my own Entertainment company (Chantaul Entertainment LLC.) and would love to one day make that company big. And would I like to get into acting and land a few endorsement deals.

WazzupTonight: Waters Uncharted, The ultimate goal for Chantaul? What’s Next for your career?

Chantaul: Wherever god takes me. I want to become known and respected for my music, talents and inspire the world through my music. Hoping to bring hope and make change in the hope that’s been lost.
