Tory Lanez found Guilty in final verdict

It’s a verdict that has been highly anticipated by the public and the music industry: Tory Lanez has been found guilty on three felonies, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having an unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence, in the shooting of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. The counts carry a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison.

As the verdict was read, Lanez, dressed in a powder pink winter coat and matching pants, remained emotionless. However, the rapper’s father, Sonstar Peterson, couldn’t contain his anger and began shouting in the courtroom, accusing the prosecutors of being “evil, wicked people.” He was eventually removed from the courthouse, continuing to shout and protest as he was escorted out.

The shooting, which left Megan Thee Stallion with bullet fragments in her feet, sparked widespread outrage and sparked a larger conversation about violence against women in the music industry. As the case comes to a close, fans and the music industry will be waiting to see what the future holds for Tory Lanez.
