New Orleans Bounce DJ Black N’ Mild dies at age 44 due to Coronavirus

New York, NY – This morning, the entertainment industry was shook by the news wire that New Orleans Bounce DJ and radio personality Black N’ Mild has died from complications of the coronavirus. Born Oliver Stokes Jr., DJ Black N’ Mild was known in the NO as a permanent fixture of the city’s cultural bounce music which has made its mark in mainstream.  

As a DJ, Black N’ Mild was instrumental for breaking records with his radio mix show which brought the bounce sound to the forefront.  A beloved figure in the community, Dj Black N’ Mild used his influence and positivity to move crowds, while promoting the signature sound which personifies the creole culture. 

DJ Black N’ Mild began feeling ill around March 9th with flu like symptoms and checked himself into University Medical Center on March 11. By March 12th it was confirmed that he had contracted the coronavirus and as late as Tuesday he was posting messages of hope on his facebook account. DJ Black N’ Mild is the second person in Louisiana to die from the pandemic.
