With the SweetSexySavage tour with Kehlani taking way in February, “Lay Up” comes as a subtle snippet of energy from the ‘CHANGE’ EP released in November on Dj Mustard’s 10 Summers Label. “Lay Up” features the production of the legendary Dj Mustard and Chyy Lee on a laid back track that embraces Ella Mai’s sultry vocals. From the word Go, the smooth transition from break beats over on-time 808’s gives the song a kickin r&b riff that simply, works. Once again, Ella Mai has the ingredients to a well cooked Hit!

The video to “Lay Up”, directed by Ben Griffin, features Ella Mai on a remote island with her man spending some quality time. The theme follows a bliss of loving the one you with that resonates throughout the ‘CHANGE’ EP. With that being said, sometimes you just need to, “get away!” Ella Mai does her part to educate us on the secret of a successful relationship: A Vacay that includes romantic dinners, frequent dips n’ a sparkling pool, and a night filled with pampering!
