Wazzup Xlcusive | President Trump Sends Message to Chicago: “Stop Carnage” | @wazzuptonight

New York, NY –  With 6 days into office, President Donald Trump, has taken a strong position on the Crime in Chicago with a tweet Tuesday night saying: “I will send in the Feds” if they don’t fix the “horrible ‘carnage'” going on.

To date, 38 homicides and 182 shooting incidents have been recorded in the city so far in 2017. The numbers are both shocking and staggering when compared to the horrific numbers of 2016. President Trump specifically spoke about the crime and carnage in Chicago as a candidate and urged Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emanuel to ask for federal assistance.  Although Mayor Emanuel has not respond to the Presidents tweet, in September the Mayor addressed the issue by stating a need for more policing, jobs, and the need for more community involvement.

“Gun violence in Chicago is unacceptable. … It is pulling us apart at the very moment that our city needs us to come together,”  “For all the things that make Chicago great, for all the things that make us proud to call ourselves Chicagoans, the violence that is happening corrodes our core,” stated the Mayor.

“Over the years the federal government’s stepped back their resources, which we have stepped up,” Emanuel said in an interview with WTTW’s Chicago Tonight on Monday. “The federal government can be a partner, and to be honest they haven’t been for decades.”
