Wazzup Xclusive | A Tribute Fit For A King “Charlie Murphy” 1959-2017| @wazzuptonight

New York, New York – On Wednesday, April 12, 2017 the World lost one of the most prolific entertainers of all time. Charles Quinton Murphy, the older brother of Icon Eddie Murphy passed at a New York area hospital due to his courageous battle with leukemia. Although, many will remember Charles Murphy for his role on Comedy Central’s comedy series the Chappelle Show, it was his works as a humanitarian and father of (3) that personifies a legacy that will forever endure. The entire Wazzup Tonight crew would like to send our deepest sorrow and condolences to the family near and extended.
Since the early 80’s, Murphy was engulfed in the entertainment industry. As a little known fact, it was Charlie Murphy who played a significant role assisting the hip hop group, K-9 Posse in which he was credited as executive producer and contributed to the albums songwriting on several hits. Murphy film career; however, took off in 1989 when he was casted in the film “Harlem Nights”, which starred his brother Eddie Murphy, and a all-star cast of comedians. It was in 1993, when his first major role was presented in the film “CB4” where he played Gusto. Charlie Murphy went on to star in over 30 films, stand-up specials, and comedy skits.
The Legacy
In life, it is known that we are all born with a gift, some find their gift in this lifetime, while many go to the grave with unspent offerings. Charlie Murphy not only found his gift, but. shared it among the masses with every waking moment he spent on this earth.
The man who will be forever infamously known for using the phrase, “He’s A Habitual LIne-Stepper” as referenced to describe his many encounters with the late great Rick James, will never be forgotten. I think I speak for a mass majority when expressing the gratitude and sincere joy of the great story telling ability of Mr. Murphy. No one on earth had the ability to illustrate a story the way Charlie Murphy so eloquently did with so much candor. Charlie had a way of making you feel that you were apart of the story.
The facial expressions, tone, and sheer drama Charlie Murphy expressed in any theme resonated with the core. If you were ever so blessed to meet the man, you know that Charlie Murphy was one of the most genuine, caring, motivational, and positive spirits to ever walk the face of this planet. From the casting set of The Boondocks, to co-writing “Paper Soldiers” with Kevin Hart, everyone who worked with Mr. Murphy in the industry had nothing but great things to say.

Gabrielle Union “Charlie Murphy was such a kind, sweet, funny man. Damn. Incredible talent, even better man. RIP”

Charlie Murphy was added to the cast of “Power” for the upcoming season.“Starz sends our deepest condolences to Charlie’s family and friends. He joined ‘Power’ for our upcoming season, and his talent shines in every scene. We were fortunate to have worked with him,” the network said in a statement.
