In steps “KZ”; the hip-hop artist from Pensacola Florida that’s making major moves on his way to the top. Who knew the young man from Escambia Arms projects would make good on his promise and put on for his city? KZ is the dude we’ve been looking for! Young, Black, and determined with an incredible appetite for stardom. With immense dedication to the grind, KZ has managed to be featured in just about every major hip-hop publication Nationwide.
“I’ve always dreamed big and worked even harder to make my dreams a reality mane”, states KZ as he gazes into the pages of the XXL Magazine. Just proceed to your local newsstand, or read online the 2016 XXL MAGAZINE FRESHMAN EDITION 2016 LIVE VIDEO FEATURE and you will find KZ. The feature is just the beginning of what’s been a 2-year avalanche of great accomplishments which include; 5 mixtapes / 3 albums, a feature in the Source, and numerous awards! However, It was in 2015 that KZ scored his big break with earning the Snoop Dogg’s “The Naked Song” contest winner, which has landed KZ a feature with the legend himself.
The KZ story only begins there! Ironically, shortly before the Snoop feature, KZ became homeless due to a string hardships and strife. I’m talking about the kind of setbacks that would make the average person pack up and give up! Adversity will push a man to the pinnacle of his faith. “Give up?” or “Go hard?” The rapper pondered, and then the phone rang with news that he was chosen as one of the 3 finalist for the DJ Khaled “Jackin for Beats” contest. WazzupTonight: What projects are you currently working on? KZ: I am working with Billboard charting artist Derris Owens; As well as, a new joint with the CEO of Bentley Records @LucaDayz featuring @SnoopDogg
WazzupTonight: A track featuring Snoop Dogg and Luca, Can you give us some details? KZ: I can’t give out the title of the song yet. But trust me its definitely gonna raise some eyebrows once released lol.
WazzupTonight: Well we heard the “Ima Get It” single on Sirius Radio! The song is gaining a lot of traction, tell us about “Ima Get It” and the attention it’s receiving? KZ: Yessir, “Ima Get It” is the first single off the album History in the Making. “Ima Get It” is a real feel good track which was recently a finalist in super platinum producer Jazze Pha #IllListen National Competition 2016. WazzupTonight: On that note, how was it to work with Snoop? What advice did he give you? KZ: Working with Snoop really was an exciting and tutorial experience. A lot of the knowledge he shared was really passionate and in detail. About songwriting, his personal views on the state of music currently. And most importantly how to be consistent and relevant in the ever changing industry. His advice was to never be anything less than what you see when you stare in the mirror.
WazzupTonight: Tell us about Bentley records? KZ: My love and respect for Bentley Records, is very sincere and genuine. They heard my music, listened to my story, understood my goals and direction. And reached out with open arms to help me reach my dreams. I have the utmost respect for them, no doubt
WazzupTonight: What makes KZ unique in a cookie cutter industry, and why? KZ: What makes me unique I think. Is every lyric music be of relevance when I’m creating. I think a lot of music today lack lyrics of substance and meaning. Even if I’m doing club music. Everything is pieced together like a puzzle. So you can actually see and follow what the song is about. I’m unique because I set my own trend to follow. And that different alone allows me to stand out easily.
WazzupTonight: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? KZ: In the next 5 years, I will be well on my way to becoming the next music mogul.
