Los Angeles, CA – Oh yeah, fireworks are popping … and we’re not talking about the 4th of July! 🎆 If you didn’t know, pop icons Taylor Swift and Katy Perry have had a “quiet storm” beef for the past several years. Well Katy’s recently released song, “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj, has not only increased the winds and downpour in the two’s feud … it’s brought it to a Category 5 hurricane!!
Allegedly, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry’s conflict began back in 2013. A trio of dancers on Taylor’s “Red World Tour” had previously performed on Katy’s “California Dreams” tour. Later confirmed by dancer Lockhart Brownlie, that same dancer trio was then abruptly hijacked by Katy (for her own “Prismatic” tour) in the midst of Swift’s “Red” tour!
Shorty after, in 2014, Swift revealed to Rolling Stone that a song off her then album entitled “Bad Blood” was about a fellow female pop singer. “For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” Taylor explained. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'” Taylor then emphasized that the unnamed foe did something “so horrible” that it made them “straight-up enemies”. Taylor specified, “She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me!”.
From thereon in, it’s been just plain on. Well actually since “Bad Blood” — to date, Taylor has been in-the-cut quiet, chilling, minding her B.I.. Katy on the other hand, has been throwing underhand shots Taylor’s way like a softball pitcher! Behind the scenes, Katy instigated both the 2015 dispute between Nicki Minaj & Taylor, and the 2016 clash between Taylor & now ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris.
Oh and you thought it was over? Heck naw! On Friday, Katy dropped single, “Swish Swish”, off her latest album, “Witness“. Now not only is Katy indirectly going at Tay Tay on the track, she featured Taylor’s ex-rival Nicki Minaj on the joint too!! It doesn’t stop there. Katy is also set to appear on Calvin Harris’ (Tay’s ex-boo) upcoming album, “Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1” … and it’s been reported, that Katy & Calvin are presently DATING!!
