New York, New York – Travel about 35 miles West of Madison, Wisconsin and you will run up on Mazomanie. A small little town voted as one of the best places to live! I think we can contribute that fact to the wide open voice of International Star Skylar Grey. Skylar has come along way from her humble beginnings. Skylar’s new single “Come Up for Air,” produced by hip-hop Icon Eminem, is a song of heartbreak with a option to mend. I know? What a twist of fate that resonates so deeply with many of us, personally. “It’s technically a break-up song, but it’s about loving the other person so much that you’ll wait forever for them to come back to you,” said Skylar.
Skylar Grey and Eminem have become quite a tandem. Besides serving as producer, Eminem is also featured on “Kill for You” on her upcoming lp, “Natural Causes”. The 13 track lp is said to be Skylar’s uncut and candid reflection in the mirror. Rest assure, If “Natural Causes” is anything like her 2013 lp,“Don’t look Down”, we are in for a treat! Skylar has come into her own as an all around International Star and most sought after songwriter. As a matter of fact, Skylar co-wrote Eminem and Rihanna‘s hit single “Love the Way You Lie”. A song which went on to score 11-times platinum honors. To be modest, I expect “Natural Causes” to render likewise results!
The visual for “Come Up For Air” features Skylar sitting in what appears to be a insane asylum. The white walls look padded as a dark overtone covers the 4 wall to suggest escape is out of the questions. Suddenly, green vines laced with insects begin to wrap itself onto Skylar’s body as she bellows out tunes in deep despair. From there; it begins to snow and Skylar appears to succumb to her fate! A true masterpiece by film director Daniel Carberry! The video definitely captures the essence of the track.
Overall, “Come Up For Air”, lives up to what we have grown to love and respect form Skylar! A true pioneer and trendsetter! Skylar Grey has no ceiling of creativity which makes her a unique talent that should definitely be in the conversation, as one of the Greats~Renzo
