At this point though, the battle of the M.C.’s has turned into a circus and it’s to the point now where everyone is like “Okay, enough is enough. Everybody go home, sit down and Netflix & chill or something”.
After dropping “Shether” close to a week ago, Remy Ma released a SECOND Nicki Minaj diss track Thursday evening entitled “Another One“. If that’s not enough icing on the cake, Remy added the candles by taking to Instagram several hours after releasing her second diss song to troll Minaj with a #tb pic (photo/post below).
Oh, but it DOESN’T stop there! Shortly after the IG troll, Remy briefly went Live on Instagram to state that apparently someone is making phone calls trying to mess up her money. “Someone is making calls, trying to f*ck with my f*cking bag. This is corny ma.”, Remy said in the short video.
At this point, we have no idea what Nicki Minaj is going to do in regards to Remy. Will she Biggie it (take the classy route and not send a follow-up diss record) or will she Nas it (hit back with the illest diss song that we’ve ever freakin’ heard!)??
Only time will tell. In the meantime, there’s a simple way to settle the “Who’s Better – Remy or Nicki?” debate. How you ask? Easy – by their albums.
Wait now when we say albums, we DO NOT mean album sales! We’re referring to albums as a whole – the content (lyrics mainly and the production), the structure (i.e. can you play the album straight through without skipping a song), the impact, the overall feel of the album, etc. In Hip Hop, generally speaking your status is not solidified by rap battles or by your mixtapes – it’s your ALBUMS that make you either one of the greats or one of the passing-throughers.
“Why is that?” you may inquire. Mainly because albums TRULY express who you are as an artist: your ORIGINALITY, your creativity, your style, your song making skills (e.g. your writing talents, your flow, your delivery), your ability to touch people’s souls and change people’s lives, etc. Mixtapes however, cannot genuinely show the true nature of an artist because mainstream industry beats are recorded on for mixtapes (if the artist uses ALL original beats on the project then it is an album, not a mixtape), and rap battle/diss records are awesome but frankly they only serve one specific purpose.
With all that said, it’s time to compare Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma – by ALBUMS. Nicki Minaj has 3 studio albums and 3 compilation albums. Remy Ma has 1 studio album and 2 compilation albums. Let’s skip the compilation albums for now, and compare Remy’s 1 solo album to one of Nicki’s solo albums.
In reality, Minaj’s “Pink Friday” album or her album “The Pinkprint” are musically stronger than Remy’s sole album “There’s Something About Remy: Based on a True Story“. Therefore with obtaining not one, but MULTIPLE albums that are mightier than Remy’s lone album – the title of the Best Female Emcee in the Rap Game currently goes to no other than Ms. Onika “Nicki Minaj” Maraj
