Inside Politics | President Trump Accuses Former President Obama of Espionage | @wazzuptonight

New York, NY – If the saga had a punchline, I think it was just delivered! I can see the stage manager holding up the cue card for the crowd to burst in applauds! President Donald Trump once again topped off the week with accusations of espionage against his predecessor, Barack Obama. The allegations came Saturday morning from the Presidents twitter account. Yes, around 5:00 am.
President Trump claims that former President Barack Obama wiretapped his phone during the 2016 election.  The allegations seem so far fetched without merit or significant evidence; however, officials are looking into the matter. Representative Eric Swalwell, a Democrat, and member of the House Intelligence Committee, stated,
“I think this is just the president up early doing his routine tweeting,”  “Presidents don’t wiretap anyone. These are pursued by the Department of Justice in accordance with the FBI and signed off by a judge.”
As the page turns, The Trump administration faces immense scrutiny for its contact with Russia prior to the inauguration, not to mention his newly appointed Attorney General Jeff Sessions met twice with the Russian ambassador prior to election. Some Democrats called for Sessions to resign. Some are questioning the timing of the so called accusations by the President in lieu of all the turmoil as of late regarding Russia.
In a week that featured Press Secretary Sean Spicer confiscated staffers’ phones in a bid to track down the leakers, it may be safe to say, “the leakers or wiretappers could be anyone or anywhere”.
Kevin Lewis, a spokesperson for Obama, said there was no merit to Trump’s claims, for which the president also offered no proof.
“Neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any US citizen,” Lewis said. “Any suggestion otherwise is simply false.”
One of Obama’s top adviser’s, Ben Rhodes, also tweeted a scathing reply that rules were in place to prevent presidents from ordering wiretaps.

Trump posted a series of allegations on Twitter.
