Los Angeles, CA – You hear people complaining about life and whining about their so-called problems all of the time. You see individuals that have thrown in the towel and given up on life, some being derelicts sleeping on hard cold floors in bus and train stations. The majority of these negative Nelly’s and Nancy’s, have blessings that you can never put a price tag on: i.e. freedom, eye vision, hearing, ten fingers and toes, both arms and legs, etc. Speaking of arms and legs – there is a gentleman by the name of Nick Vujicic, that was born with no legs and no arms. With such a disorder some would agree, that Nick would of had every right from day one to flip life the bird and proceed with making nothing of himself. Well not only did Vujicic make something of himself by becoming an Evangelist and motivational speaker – he is also a swimmer, a painter, and of all things a sky diver!
Nick Vujicic was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, in 1982. He was born with phocomelia, a condition that left him without fully formed limbs. According to Nick’s book, in the hospital his mother refused to see him or hold him while the nurse held him in front of her.
Despite being bullied, Nick excelled in his teenage and young adult years. He was inspired to become a motivational speaker and started giving talks at his prayer group when he was 17, after his mother showed him a newspaper article about a man dealing with a severe disability. Vujicic began his speaking engagements publicly at the age of 19.
At 21 years old, Vujicic graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a double major in financial planning and accountancy. In 2005, he founded Life Without Limbs, an international non-profit organization and ministry. In 2007, Nick founded his motivational speaking company Attitude is Altitude.
In February 2012, Vujicic married Kanae Miyahara. The couple lives in Southern California, and have two sons. As hobbies Nick enjoys jumping out of high altitude airplanes wearing a parachute, painting, and swimming.
Nick Vujicic is a true inspiration. His life is a definition of faith, unshakable determination, and unbelievable perseverance. Nick’s accomplishments and his way of living displays to us two main things: 1. STOP COMPLAINING! If you have two mobile arms and legs, then you should literally be dancing for joy. Some people would kill to have just one of the blessings you possess. 2. No matter what your circumstances are – you can do ANYTHING you put your MIND to. The brain, that is truly all that you need. Set your mind, stick to it no matter what, and IMPOSSIBLE becomes “I’M POSSIBLE”.
