Legendary rock and roll superstar David Bowie died in his home over the past weekend on Sunday, January 10, 2016. The fierce rock star, who transcended fashion, style, spirit and of course, music, died two days after his 69th birthday.

Apparently, Mr. Bowie had been suffering from cancer outside of the prying eyes of the paparazzi and was treated over the course of the last 18 months. “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family” was a post on his Facebook page, shortly following his death. The rumors of his death were confirmed as well by his publicist, Steve Martin early on Monday morning.

The rockstar’s last album “Blackstar” was a new collaboration with a jazz quartet. The album was released on Friday — which was his 69th birthday. His life is to be honored and celebrated via a live concert at Carnegie Hall on March 31 featuring the Roots, Cyndi Lauper as well as the Mountain Goats.

David was married for more than 20 years to the international supermodel Iman. Together, the couple share a daughter- Alexandria Zahra Jones. He also has a son, Duncan Jones from his marriage to the former Mary Angela Barnett.
