JAY Z MAKES HISTORY AGAIN! | INDUCTED INTO SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME | @wazzuptonight

Los Angeles, CA – “Then B.I. said, “Hov remind yourself, nobody built like you, you designed yourself”. I agree I said, my one of a kind self, getting stoned every day like Jesus did” – Jay Z. With lines like that, it’s no wonder why Mr. Shawn Corey Carter was inducted into the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame this past Monday. What makes it even more special, is that Jay Z is the FIRST rapper in musical history to be inducted into the SHF!

The Songwriters Hall of Fame announced its latest class of inductees several days ago. This year’s recruits included: Motown records founder Berry Gordy; collaborative duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis; Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds; Max Martin; Chicago members Robert Lamm, James Pankow, and Peter Cetera; and Jay Z. The induction ceremony will be held on June 15 at New York City’s Marriott Marquis Hotel.

Musicians George Michael, Madonna, Bryan Adams, and Vince Gill were all 2017 Songwriter Hall of Fame nominees though regrettably didn’t make the cut. Luckily net worths have nothing to do with being selected to the Hall, because Madonna (with a net worth of $560 million dollars) would of not only been picked but would of been selected first!

“I got the feds sending me letters ’cause I’m schooling the youth, but they can’t lock me down ’cause my tool is the truth; Yeah I sold drugs for a living, that’s a given, why is it?, why don’t y’all try to visit the neighborhoods I lived in; My mind been through hell, my neighborhood is crime central, where cops lock you up more than try to defend you” – Jigga.

Alright Hov, say no more – you are undoubtedly the GREATEST!!

On a side note, in light of the SHF we’d like to send a very special s/o to Willie T. Plaza‘s uncle (on his mother’s side) – Mr. Thom Bell. Thom Bell was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006. Thom Bell co-wrote/produced/arranged a plethora of 70’s R&B classics such as “Betcha by Golly Wow“, “Break Up To Make Up“, “Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)“, “La La Means I Love You“, “You Make Me Feel Brand New“, “Hey! Love“, “You Are Everything“, “Back Stabbers“, “Ghetto Child“, “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time)“, “People Make The World Go Round“, and many others. Bell founded Philadelphia International Records along with writer-producer duo Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff.
