With lines like that, it’s no wonder why Mr. Shawn Corey Carter was inducted into the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame this past Monday. What makes it even more special, is that Jay Z is the FIRST rapper in musical history to be inducted into the SHF!
The Songwriters Hall of Fame announced its latest class of inductees several days ago. This year’s recruits included: Motown records founder Berry Gordy; collaborative duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis; Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds; Max Martin; Chicago members Robert Lamm, James Pankow, and Peter Cetera; and Jay Z. The induction ceremony will be held on June 15 at New York City’s Marriott Marquis Hotel.
Musicians George Michael, Madonna, Bryan Adams, and Vince Gill were all 2017 Songwriter Hall of Fame nominees though regrettably didn’t make the cut. Luckily net worths have nothing to do with being selected to the Hall, because Madonna (with a net worth of $560 milliondollars) would of not only been picked but would of been selected first!
