Gucci Mane + Lil Wayne “Oh Lord”

New York, New York – A day before the release of the full The Birth of a Nation soundtrack, Gucci Mane drops “Oh Lord” featuring Lil Wayne.  The track “Oh Lord” comes as a breath of fresh air from fans of the two celebrity rappers.  Both Gucci and Lil Wayne have been in the news lately; therefore making it only fitting for the duo to  team up for what many would consider a statement track. With sick 808’s and on time flows, they both go in for the kill, and slay their prey!  Gucci hits em with  “I’m a prophet, a legend/I’m not beggin’/I rather die for my freedom than live like a peasant”. Wayne follows up on his verse with, “I gotta feed the family, but I had to leave the family/I cut off CMB, I’m an amputee.”

The hook “Lord oh lord/please hear my prayer/you ain’t take me this far/to just leave me here,” repeats the sentiments of the film.

The song has a religious overtone with both Guwop and Weezy calling for a higher power to look over them as they navigate through life. A real burner that definitely sets the tone for the film! ~ Renzo

The film Nate Parker’s The Birth of a Nation comes out on October 7th.

The film is a narrative of Nat Turner’s rebellion. Regarded as one of the most successful slave revolts to be recorded  in America. The film also comes with controversy and adversity in its own right; however, the production and cast have endured providing an open look into a forgotten  piece of American history.

The Nate Parker’s, The Birth of a Nation is without a doubt one of the best soundtracks to ever be recorded! The soundtrack features tracks from  Nas, 2 Chainz,Vic Mensa, Ne-Yo, The Game, Lecrae and Leon Bridges, Trey SongzMeek Mill, and Pusha T.
