New York, NY –  The World is in mourning, and the pain is surreal.  After learning of the passing of Pop Icon George Michael on Christmas Day, fans from near and far cherish the Grammy-winning star’s memory. The 53-year-old singer was known as a philanthropist, as well as a humanitarian by many.  A man who strayed away from the glitz and glamor of the Industry gave generously to many foundations and charities in indemnity.  As a matter of fact,  George Michael donated all of the royalties from his group Wham!’s single “Last Christmas/Everything She Wants” to Ethiopian famine relief just last year.

George Michaels career spans over 4 decades with a total of more than 100 million records sold worldwide. To this day, George Michael debut solo album, Faith, has sold more than 25 million copies with an unprecedented eight number one singles on Billboard Hot 100 charts. Beyond being a singer/ songwriter /philanthropist and humanitarian, George Michael most influential influence was his work as an active LGBT rights campaigner and HIV/AIDS charity fundraiser.  Michael, who was openly gay, used his celebrity platform as a  catalyst to promote awareness and a cure for HIV/AIDS.

He later said: “I never had a moral problem with being gay. I thought I had fallen in love with a woman a couple of times. Then I fell in love with a man, and realized that none of those things had been love.”

George Michael had been working on his documentary in the weeks leading up to his death.  According to the singer official website and social accounts, the documentary was near complete and scheduled to be released sometime in 2017.
