NEW TV SHOW #FIRSTFAMILYOFHIPHOP | SHOWS THE REAL-LIFE “EMPIRE” FAMILY | @wazzuptonight

Los Angeles, CA – We adore The Lyon Family on Fox’s “Empire” – Lucious, Cookie, Andre, Jamal, and Hakeem are the best! They’re all ruthless in their own right, ambitious, tenacious, and fight like dogs amongst each other though love one another more than anything else in the world. Perhaps it’d be more entertaining, if instead we could watch a non-fictional show with an authentic family that single-handedly goes to battle to gain control of their namesake music empire? Well ladies and gentleman, “Empire” in real life has arrived – Bravo’s “The First Family of Hip Hop“.

Last night at 9pm EST, reality show “The First Family of Hip Hop” premiered on Bravo channel. The network’s latest docu-series, concentrates on The Robinsons – a group of sisters, brothers and cousins fighting for control of Sugar Hill, their family’s once-iconic record label. Joe and Sylvia Robinson established the label in the 1970’s. “Rapper’s Delight,” “Jump On It” and “The Message” were just some of the singles released from the imprint. Now in 2017, the family wants to revive the Sugar Hill brand.

The niece of Sugar Hill founders Joe and Sylvia Robinson, rapper Shanell “Lady Luck” Jones (seen in the above video), feels it’s time for the new generation of Robinsons to get Sugar Hill “poppin’ once again. “We ain’t had a hit on the charts in 30 years. You may not know our name, but you know all of our songs. We’re the first family of hip hop”, Luck notes. “We have too many talented cousins for everybody to be trying to find their own path”, Luck adds, “There’s strength in numbers”.

Leland “Big Lee” Robinson, Sr., is presently in charge of the label. Lady Luck’s cousin, Lea Robinson, is an aspiring singer. Luck says Lea’s brother, Darnell, considers himself the true “heir to the throne”. Rhondo Robinson, Jr., is a talented producer who just can’t seem to get on Leland’s good side. Leland rather entrusts Antonio Jordan, his labeled “right-hand man.”

Luck has openly stated, “Either Big Lee’s gonna give up the throne, or one of us gonna have to take it. This empire’s about to get got”. Oh boy, sounds like it’s about to go ALL the way down on this show!!

Tune in to Bravo every Sunday at 9pm EST to catch the latest “First Family of Hip Hop” drama and family feuds.
