Drake | Surprises Hotel Maid With A $10,000 Shopping Spree!

Odelie Paret, a Haitian mom of five who commutes up to four hours a day by bus to Miami’s upscale Fountainebleu hotel for work (and has done so for the past 20 years) — presumed her shift on Feb. 6 would end customarily like much of the others. However, a mysterious lady who phoned the hotel the day before had made surprise arrangements for Paret to receive a massage at Fountainbleu’s luxury spa, Lapis, accompanied by a meal at steakhouse StripSteak by Michael Mina.

Paret, told the press she was stunned by the offer but accepted it anyway. After savoring a lobster dinner and kicking back in the hotel’s lavish lobby, Paret was carted away in a chauffeured vehicle to the Brickell City Centre mall. It was there, after normal business hours had concluded, that the 63-year-old hotel worker met her mystical benefactor when Drake came up from behind out of nowhere and placed his hand on her shoulder. “I always just saw him on the TV. So I said, ‘Drake!’” Paret emphasized. “It made me happy. I thank him so much.”

A little under an hour later, she had decided on a pair of $800 shoes comfortable enough to work in; a $2,000 Valentino handbag; four perfumes – including one for her son – and a $6,000, 18-karat white gold necklace with diamonds.
The shopping spree was organized by Drake and Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, who grew up in Miami. The two learned of Paret’s destitute life after she was featured in a Herald story about her vigorous commute and standstill wages.
