DJ Khaled Talks Police Brutality and More

DJ Khaled has a lot to be thankful for these days: an album dropping at the end of this month, a baby on the way and over 3 million followers on snapchat followers that marvel at his every move.

As successful as the producer is, he’s also cognizant of his fan base and the current events of misunderstanding among law enforcement and civilians in the US. Of Palestinian descent and a devout Muslim. He believes that love is the key to the next step rather than hate and division.

He appeared on a recent episdode of Brown and Scoop to discuss

“It hurts my heart,” he told me. DJ Khaled. “It brought tears to me the other day, I can’t believe what’s going on but that’s when we got to pray more and come together and hug each other and help each other and bring joy and energy around because, like, smile and love are so powerful it actually blocks the hatred. When somebody has hatred and you have hatred back, it’s just two big hatreds at the same time, it’s not good. Sometimes you just gotta say ‘walk away from that situation’ but, you know, what’s going on, it bothers me. It brought tears to my eyes and at the same time it’s like ‘this is not right.’ When it’s on your mind and you go to sleep, it’s not right and I’ve been speaking up by saying ‘love’. Make sure we love and pray more because love is the answer, love is the key and we have to love now. If you haven’t loved before, love now because it’s the time.”

On a brighter note, Khaled is uber excited about his Major Key album that drops July 29th. “The album is going to be exactly like the album title, Major Key,” he said.

“It’s going to be a major key. You got Jay-Z, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Lil’ Wayne, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj. I’m a fan of hip-hop and Kendrick and Jay-Z and all these great artists that are on my album, so the same way they feel about it in excitement, I feel about it too. I can’t sleep at night until it comes out. I got this record with Nas that’s unbelievable.”
