ADRIAN PETERSON | NOW WITH THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS | @wazzuptonight

New Orleans, LA – Yes yes y’all [Yes y’all!] (Charlie Brown voice; and no not the cartoon) The NFL regular season is a good 4+ months away, and already we are siked for the start! Naturally off-season trades and acquisitions occur, though Adrian “AP” Peterson going to the New Orleans Saints is like a HUGE motherbleeping deal!!

Peterson just finalized a 2-year, $7 million agreement ($3.5M guaranteed; max value incentives and escalators $15.25M) with the New Orleans Saints. Adrian Peterson was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings seventh overall in the 2007 NFL Draft, and has been the face of the Vikings for the past decade. This trade is monumental for two main reasons: (1 Peterson has played in Minnesota his entire career, thus this being the first time we’ll see Peterson wearing a different team’s jersey (2 Peterson is arguably one of the best running backs to ever play in the NFL, and now he’s going to run aside one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history (that being Drew Brees)

“I am excited to be joining the New Orleans Saints,” Peterson said. “I’m really looking forward to this opportunity. Most importantly, I chose this team because it just felt right within my spirit. Additionally, my wife and family added their confirmation with the same feelings. On offense, it goes without saying that the Saints are really solid behind Drew Brees. I feel like my skill set can make them even more dominant as a unit.”. Peterson continued, “They have a great offensive line, which is something that stood out to me as well. I could tell from talking to head coach Sean Payton over the last two weeks that he did his due diligence in evaluating how I could contribute. I also did a lot of homework on the defense as well. While I know that injuries have played a role in performance, I also see areas of potential with a lot of younger guys having the ability to step up. Lastly, it goes without saying that the Saints have an amazing fan base and I look forward to making them proud and creating everlasting memories.”.

All we know is – fantasy football is going to be off the meat wagon this year!! Congrats AP on your new contract, and we look forward to seeing if the Saints can dethrone the champion New England Patriots.
